Haruman’s Hill

Wrought iron trees adorn a massive hill that smolders with an internal heat. The ground is littered with dried and desiccated bodies. The iron trees atop the hill writhe with the bodies of soldiers and knights. Giant dark stirges flutter through the heavy air, feasting on the blood of the tormented.
Haruman’s Hill is a volcanic structure that is sometimes encountered when traveling through Avernus. There is a trail leading up it, on which dozens of souls are crucified on metal trees, the tortured souls of those Hellriders who fled the Battle of Avernus and became the heroes of Elturel. From these trees, stirges suck their blood and brought it to the top of the hill to inject it into a crucified Jander Sunstar.
