Session Journal 1 (March 9, 2022)

PART 1

Kilterkon, Pip, Charles, and Zook get to know each other over dinner. All four work for the newly appointed ambassador to Baldur’s Gate, Duke Davarius Rym. Duke Rym’s appointment to baldur’s gate is akin to banishment from his home city of Elturel. Our heroes are to follow Duke Rym to Baldur’s gate as his bodyguards.

PART 2

Six months later, we find our heroes fleeing the city of Elturel on horseback. Racing over the icy ground, they are stopped by armed men. Cultists accompanied by the mysterious wizard Ramsey and the swordswoman Stain. A brief fight ensues but quickly comes to an end as the ground shakes and fire fills the sky.

Our heroes witness the destruction of Elturel. The Companion, a bright holy globe that shines over Elturel day and night, goes dark for the first time in a hundred years. Fissures spiderweb the ground around the great city and mountains of stone rise up around the walls. Fire and lava shoot hundreds of feet into the air and the city is engulfed in smoke and flame. When the debris clears, there is no sign of the City. The hill where upon it once stood is gone. Only a crater remains and for the first time in a century the sky is dark.
