SYNOPSIS November 29, 2023
SHEGOT brought us here in his crazy robes from Fort Knucklebone. We exited into a wildflower/herb grassland, with forests in the distance and a huge labyrinth at the center of this valley. In front of the labyrinth, there is a tent city leading to a line of mostly devilish creatures. At the end of the line, there is an imp with a contract. Maggie leads us up to him, and she begins negotiations to enter due to our scent.
An undead wyvern, which we had cut in front of in line, starts to get agitated. Then, after Kate talks back to it, it attacks us. We begin to fight, and the people around us start to mumble and exchange coins, making drumming noises on their weapons, but no one moves or gets out of order in the line. The creature remains flat-footed as Sean and I still have a hold on it (I think). Sean has a horn and I have something else (a wiener?). Kate uses paralyze, and it is stunned, causing a loss of an action. I attempt to grapple but mess it up, though I maintain my hold on it. I rage and then swing my sword, hitting for 4 damage against its bones (rolled a 14). Sean swings with his runed-up axe right after me, chipping bone away. He swings again, but nothing happens. He attempts to intimidate it by screaming in Orc, but it just smirks at him.
Taylor creates a smoke stick and lobs it at the creature, attempting to blind it for a minute. She lets go of biting it and backflips away, then throws lesser alchemist’s fire but misses, and basically, a fire bomb explodes behind us. Daniel casts Agonizing Despair, but the creature is unaffected. He moves up closer to the pile of us fighting. The creature sweeps its tail, attempting to knock Sean and Daniel prone. Sean jumps over it, but Daniel gets caught up and falls flat on his face. The creature reaches back, crunches, and rips a huge bone sword from its back. Mad Maggie yells, “Don’t let go of him! He’ll vanish!” She casts a spell, but from what we can tell, nothing happens. Spin casts grim tendrils that look like squid ink noodles, wiggling out of Spin’s hand and slapping the skeleton devil man a little. I attempt to grapple again and again, but I’m just totally failing. I swing my sword AGAIN, and it bounces off its hard bone body. Sean rolls like a 30 to grapple it, but it’s still not fully held. Orna walks up to the cloud and strikes out with a poison-tipped spear and misses, but uses a hero point and attempts to stab the bone creature in the butthole, hitting with a 28. The spear tip bounces off the bone, and nothing happens. Osarn stands up from being flat on his face and uses a religion-based recall knowledge but doesn’t know anything about this particular devil. He then heals me for 9 points.
Dickwad attempts to escape from both me and Sean but can’t. Then he swings out at me and misses, screaming, “LET GO OF ME.” A beam shoots out of Mad Maggie and hits it. The creature stumbles and seems weakened. Kate casts Phase Bolt and hits. I attempt to trip and grapple, but don’t accomplish anything. Sean cracks one of its ribs almost in half. Daniel casts bless in a 5-foot emanation and raises his shield, giving me a +1 stat bonus. Dickwad is pissed at Sean and brings his sword down, dealing 34 points of damage and knocking him to his knees. The creature’s tail swings down at his chest with a stinger on the end. Suddenly, its hand comes out and flips a large coin, landing on YES. Something happens, causing the tail to land true for 13 points of damage, with another 5 evil damage starting to sink into him. Then the creature becomes invisible. We’re still holding onto it, so we know it’s still there, just invisible. Mad Maggie blasts another green laser at it and yells, “Keep striking true!” Sean grapples again and pulls it down; it sounds like a xylophone crashing to the ground. Sean hits with a NAT 20, and there’s an invisible thunk. The devil screeches and is hit for 40 points of damage, becoming visible for a moment. I strike out at where I think its other eye is and accidentally rip its head off. The rib cage opens up, and pus and mucus pour out of its body as it begins to melt. A little slimy maggot creature crawls out and looks at us, then begins to slink away. Taylor yells, “BACK OF THE LINE, BITCH!” and Seth gives him a hero point

After the fight, Maggie competes here deal with the contract imp that is sitting at the entrance to the valley of labyrinths. Maggie leads the group of adventurers through the labyrinth to a wall and asks someone to break it down. Susan breaks down the stone door and the group enters into darkness.
