Session Journal 2-7-2024
After defeating one of Maggie’s sisters, we enter a domed room about 70-80 feet across, adorned with wooden and stone furniture from various locations and eras, sectioned into a living area, library, and dining space. At the center lies a fountain or well, with calm water pooling around a speckled white marble stone.
The room, enclosed by glass-like walls revealing only darkness beyond, has no visible exits except the door we entered through. We encounter a 3-foot tall imp that Maggie had subdued upon our arrival. The room, now safe thanks to Maggie’s protective spells, serves as our resting place, furnished with couches and beds for healing.
Maggie, appearing younger, contemplates the well’s depths. The room is illuminated by a sourceless light casting no shadows. Pip, a human fighter/archer, introduces herself, acknowledged by Drydus and his new bat, Spike. Orna shares her need for new experiences to avoid death. Pip discovers a book titled “Axe and Shadow,” while Susan sharpens her blades, and Osarn reads the room’s history, sensing the imp’s presence and a skeletal demon’s ownership, hinting at a connection to “Dickwad.”
Maggie believes this room holds what we seek, drawing us to the well. We witness a group of eight warriors ascending a hill, their weapons and armor crafted from blackened wood and beast hide, one among them a child. They’ve journeyed to Mount Taka, “The Beginning,” to summon a new god, fleeing from Boggarts enslaving tribes. Our village, underestimating the Boggarts, now seeks new deities for salvation.
The battle ensues as Olaf fires at a Boggart, Rane is hit, and I block attacks with my shield. Rane, Ogn, and Sverting retaliate, while Olaf targets a Boggart’s neck. Despite a Boggart’s attempt to intimidate us, we remain unshaken, with Rane summoning an undead Boggart to our aid.

Back in the room, as we observe the unfolding battle, Maggie urges us to follow her through the water portal. We emerge in a cave, confronting the Chief beside a sacrificial altar. He pledges eternal service, revealing the sacrifice of his last son for the village’s salvation.
The battle outside the cave intensifies. Drydus’s velociraptor attacks, Sean/Sverting is knocked down, and Orna, Fleetus, and I engage the Boggarts, eventually driving them away. The villagers hail us as new gods, with Sean/Sverting revived but injured.
Questioning the necessity of the sacrifice, Maggie affirms it was essential for our arrival. She inquires how we wish to be worshiped, marking the end of our session.
